To transform an under-performing school into a high-performing and modern Academy aided by the use of an electronic learning platform. Trent Valley require an innovative means of using technology to engage and assist students and teachers to improve the delivery of their education curriculum.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Trent Valley have no existing technology platform and very little engagement from teachers in the use of technology to deliver their curriculum. In order to realise the learning objectives set out by their governing authority, Brantas had to work with a variety of stakeholders to fully understand key needs. This meant numerous interactions with teachers and administrative staff to gather requirements and fully understand how we could make technology assist their transformation objectives. Timescales for delivery were extremely aggressive.

SOLUTION

In order to fast-track the technology implementation, Brantas had to use existing technology and lessons-learned from previous projects as much as possible whilst also considering the unique needs within Trent Valley. We knew that Microsoft Office SharePoint had the capabilities to host curriculum delivery content in the form of a structured learning gateway. Additionally, the use of the SharePoint Learning Kit and Course Manager plug-ins contributed to a cost-effective and future-proof solution within the schools ICT cost-per-pupil budget. This enabled teachers to realise the benefits of technology and assist them in the planning, creation and delivery of student learning whilst also overcoming some traditional obstacles for sharing relevant information that could benefit students.
