NEED

Northern Marine Management’s (NMM) intranet is part of the Stena group’s European corporate technology platform. The direction of their technology road-map elicited a technology upgrade for their intranet platform SPS 2003 to MOSS 2007 whilst maintaining the same level of access to information for business partners and employees. All of the data within SPS 2003 had to be migrated onto the new platform and user response times had to be improved.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Our main challenge was providing familiarity on the new platform that user’s experienced on the incumbent intranet. Migrating data, preserving system access for business partners and employees and aligning the new platform with Stena’s corporate branding were all significant challenges on this project.

SOLUTION

We reviewed the existing platform to understand how the information was viewed and where it was being accessed. We then produced an upgrade plan that encompassed the needs for data migration and user access permissions. We upgraded NMM’s intranet platform allowing them to take advantage of the new features within SharePoint and most importantly we avoided any disruption to NMM’s core business operations.
